Having enjoyed the hospitality, amazing food and beautiful wines of the Fleurieu Region for many years, George and Jodie decided to investigate the possibility of a “lifestyle property” where their children could grow up enjoying and emulating their outdoorsy, fun, country childhood.
One fateful day in December 2015, George came home and made the announcement that he had purchased said lifestyle property, but it came with a catch – an 88-acre vineyard fronting the Finniss River at Currency Creek now affectionately called “George’s Folly”.
Initially planted for bulk grape supply to large wineries (which is still the mainstay of the property), George decided to graft the Riesling grapes over to some varietals which could be made into the wines he enjoys today and are more suitable for our climate - hot dry summers, cold winters.
So ... our foray into the wine industry was born and continues!
We encourage you to sample their produce and join their wine club which delivers a great sample of their varieties twice a year.
Following a successful career of more than 20 years in the National Basketball League (NBL), as a professional basketball player and coach, winning five championships and representing Australia, Scott decided to embark on a new project in wine tourism. With a little help from his wife, Rebekah, Premium Wine Tours became a reality.
“Enjoying and learning more about wine has long been a passion of mine, and I have designed my tours in a way that I would like to experience them myself,” Scott said.
Premium Wine Tours is more than just a chauffeur service of South Australia’s wine regions.
